South Korea’s spy service informed lawmakers Thursday that North Korean leader is Kim Jong Un had chosen his daughter to be his heir. In recent months, Kim Ju Ae, reportedly 13 years old, has been photographed alongside her father at high-profile events, including her September visit to Beijing, her first known overseas trip.
When making this determination, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) claimed to have considered a “range of circumstances, including her growing prominence in the public at official functions. Additionally, the NIS stated that it will closely monitor her attendance at the North’s party conference later this month, which is its biggest political gathering that takes place only every five years.
Pyongyang is anticipated to provide more information about its his five-year aims, including foreign policy, war preparations, and the nuclear aspirations, at the party Congress. Kim Jong Un and his wife Ri Sol Ju have only one known child, Ju Ae. Although Kim Jong Un’s older son has never been mentioned or featured in North Korean media, the NIS believes he does.
