In an exclusive interview with Europe Today, India’s ambassador to the EU stated that the nation is “confident” that the free trade agreement reached with the EU in January will be ratified and put into effect as soon as possible. Saurabh Kumar, India’s ambassador to the European Union, stated on Euronews’ premier morning program Europe Today that his country is prepared to sign and execute the “mother of all trade deals” that were reached with the EU in January as soon as possible. In an interview with Maria Tadeo, the EU editor for Euronews, ambassador Kumar stated, “We will be able to sign the deal as soon as the EU is able to complete its internal processes.
“Ambassador Kumar continued, “We have every confidence that the agreement will be inked as soon as possible. “My understanding is that both sides will be working fast to see that the deal will be signed as quickly as possible.” By lowering tariffs on around 96% of EU exports to India, the free-trade deal, which was signed last month, aims to quadruple EU exports to the country by 2032 and save European businesses almost €4 billion annually in levies. The agreement, meantime, provided some respite for India when the US imposed crippling sanctions on the nation.
