The CEO of Southwest Claims That the Airline is Actively Pursuing an Airport Lounge Network

CEO Bob Jordan told CNBC on Wednesday that Southwest Airlines is “actively pursuing” creating a network of airport lounges as the airline sector struggles to attract high-end passengers.

In an interview, Jordan stated, “I think lounges would be a huge next benefit for our customers.” “And you [would] be able to offer that premium credit card that grants access to lounges because you have a network of lounges.”

Together with its credit card partner, Chase, Southwest is talking about airport leases and lounge options. In October, the Dallas-based airline received approval for an airport lounge at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.

Jordan stated, “It’s clear our customers want lounges, and we’re pursuing the customer,” but he failed to give a timeline for the establishment of what would probably be a network” of airport lounges.

He declared, “We’re going to make sure that we have a network of lounges that meets the needs of the network that we have.” From major airlines like Delta Air Lines to smaller ones like JetBlue Airways.
