Based in Abu Dhabi, Following record earnings last year, Etihad Airways announced the debut of the new Airbus A321LR on Monday as part of its fleet and network expansion. Ten A321LRs will join the fleet this year, with the first going into service on August 1, 2025.
Algiers, Athens, Bangkok, Chennai, Chiang Mai, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Kolkata, Krabi, Medan, Milan, Paris, Phnom Penh, Phuket, Riyadh, Tunis, and Zurich are among the places the plane will travel to from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport To expand its worldwide reach, Etihad intends to acquire ten additional aircraft a year in 2025, 2026, and 2027.
Etihad Airways is “adding a lot of new aircraft,” according to CEO António Carlos Neves. We intend to add 20 to 22 additional aircraft in 2025. To reach 170 aircraft and 33 million passengers, we will be adding around 20 aircraft annually over the next four to five years,” he continued.
In line with Etihad’s 2030 strategy to quadruple its fleet size, triple its passenger count, and launch 16 new destinations by 2025, Neves noted that the Airbus A321LR marks a significant milestone in the airline’s evolution.
The airline has added a number of luxurious amenities to the new aircraft to enhance the traveller’s experience. “We’ve taken the luxury experience we’re known for on our widebody fleet and adapted it to offer guests the same experience in a single-aisle aircraft all while keeping them seamlessly connected with superfast, streaming Wi-Fi throughout the journey,” he said, referring to the new First Suites, 14 lie-flat Business seats with direct-aisle access, and upgraded Economy.
