Fauja Singh, who is thought to be the oldest distance runner in the world, passed away in a car accident on Tuesday at the age of 114, according to his biographer. Singh also known as the “Turbaned Tornado was a British national of Indian descent who was struck by a car in the Jalandhar region of Punjab state on Monday.
Khushwant Singh, Fauja’s biographer, said on X, “My Turbaned Tornado is no more.” “He was crossing the road in his hamlet, Bias, when he was hit by an unknown car. My beloved Fauja, may you rest in peace. Singh’s family claimed that he was born on April 1, 1911, but he lacked a birth certificate.
Up to the age of 100, he completed 42-kilometre marathons. The last race he participated in was the 2013 Hong Kong Marathon, when he ran 10 kilometres (six miles) and finished in 1 hour, 32 minutes, and 28 seconds.
