Under the direction of Dr. Saif Saeed Al Qubaisi, Acting Director-General of Regulatory Affairs at the Department of Energy, the Abu Dhabi Petroleum Products Trading Regulatory Committee (TRC) held its first meeting of 2025. Representatives from 21 federal and local government agencies were present.
The conference program comprised presentations and discussions on a range of topics related to the ongoing efforts to arrange the trading of petroleum products in the emirate. Per the pertinent laws governing the regulation of the trade of petroleum products, specifically Federal Law No., an agreement was made regarding the implementation and oversight of many recommendations and findings.
Adnoc Distribution opened the meeting by summarising the advantages of implementing the petroleum products trading regulation ruling and emphasising the Department of Energy’s and the Abu Dhabi Petroleum Products Trading Regulatory Committee’s roles in reducing the grey market and combating malpractices.
The Committee underlined the necessity of increasing efforts to promote the purchase of diesel fuel from approved domestic companies. At the same time, efforts should concentrate on directing all petroleum product users—public and private—to cooperate with domestic businesses to formalise supply agreements for petroleum products that adhere to recognised criteria. The goal is to ensure that safety regulations are followed and put into effect under passed laws.
