Trump Claims that India is Prepared to Impose “no Tariffs” on US Imports

According to US President Donald Trump, India has promised to remove all tariffs on goods from his nation. Trump said the Indian government has “offered us a deal where basically they are willing to charge us no tariff” during a Doha event. A trade agreement is presently being negotiated between the US and India.

Delhi has yet to respond to the comments. The BBC has contacted India’s trade ministry for comment. The public has not yet been given any additional information on the alleged arrangement. During a speech to business executives in Doha, Trump revealed several agreements between the US and Qatar, including one involving Boeing aircraft.

The US president said that he had told CEO Tim Cook that he didn’t want him to construct in India since it was “one of the highest tariff nations in the world” while discussing Apple’s intentions to manufacture iPhones there.

“They [India] have made us an offer in which they essentially agree to charge us no tariffs at all. “We are treating you really well,” I remarked, “and we tolerated all the plants you built in China for years.
