US President Donald Trump has stated that he would “love to do it” and has not ruled out running for a third term. However, Trump turned down the idea of running for vice president in 2028, which some fans had suggested would allow him to get around the US constitution’s ban on the president seeking a third term.
In an interview with reporters while in Asia, Trump claimed the notion “wouldn’t be right” and was “too cute. What strategy he would employ to run again is unknown. A “plan” to get the 79-year-old president a second term was announced last week by former Trump aide Steve Bannon.
While he would “be allowed” to run for vice president again, Trump told reporters on Air Force One en route to Japan from Malaysia that he had no plans to do so. He remarked, “I don’t think people would like that. It’s too adorable. It wouldn’t be appropriate.
Regarding the prospect of a third term, Trump stated: I haven’t given it much thought. However, my polling numbers are the best they’ve ever been. Trump also called Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance unstoppable” and recommended them as possible successors.
