Two men were fined Dhs 10,000 and forced to pay Dhs 234,000 by the Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court for deceiving someone into investing his money in a fraudulent enterprise. A criminal judgement purportedly found the two suspects guilty.
The victim filed a complaint, requesting that the suspects reimburse him Dhs234,000 that they had stolen from him, along with Dhs40,000 for the material and moral harm he had suffered, legal fees, and other costs. The plaintiff claimed that a criminal judgement for the charge of seizing funds by fraud had punished the suspects Dhs 100,000 each, and that the Court of Cassation and the Court of Appeal had upheld the decision.
The court clarified that the criminal ruling made it clear that the accused had taken Dhs234,000 from the plaintiff. As a result, the court mandated that they pay the plaintiff the sum in full as well as Dhs 10,000 in damages for all of the material and moral harm he sustained.
