The UAE delegation to the 65th session of the Assemblies of the member states of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) was led by Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri. The meeting started on July 1 and will continue until July 17 at WIPO’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Bin Touq affirmed that the UAE, in keeping with the vision of its astute leadership, is developing its intellectual property (IP) sector in conformity with international best practices, viewing it as a crucial pillar in fostering the expansion of the country’s economy. As a result, the UAE offers facilities and enablers that support the expansion of knowledge-based businesses, innovation, and R&D, as well as an incubating environment for IP, innovation, and patent activities in compliance with international best practices.
“The WIPO meeting this year is crucial as it coincides with our celebration of the 50th anniversary of the UAE’s accession to the Organisation,” stated the Minister of Economy. These fifty years have been remarkable, marked by productive collaboration and strong alliances between the two parties. He went on to say that the UAE is eager to work with WIPO and the Member States, anticipating more positive efforts to promote the protection of intellectual property rights and the sharing of information and experience.
