The 45th Opec Fund Ministerial Council annual session was presided over by the United Arab Emirates in Vienna, Austria. Council members discussed the Fund’s projects and initiatives, as well as the most recent advancements and progress, during the meeting. They also reviewed the 2023 annual report.
The UAE delegation was led by Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini. Hammad Essa Al-Zaabi, Director of the Minister’s Office at the UAE Ministry of Finance and Opec Fund Alternate Governing Board Representative, and Thuraiya Hamid Alhashmi, Director of International Financial Relations and Organisations at the UAE Ministry of Finance, accompanied him.
Al Hussaini stated: “I think the governing board’s support and direction, along with the diligent work of the OPEC Fund’s management and employees, were key factors in this accomplishment. With the help and direction of this Council and the governing board, I am sure the Fund, which aims for a more significant impact this year, will surpass last year’s accomplishments.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela’s Minister of People’s Power of Economy and Finances was elected vice chairman of the session, which covered a wide range of topics. The chairman of the session was His Excellency Al Hussaini. Presentations included the organization’s 2023 annual report and financial statements, details on the 2030-Mid Term Review of the OPEC Fund Strategic Framework.
