Over 460 million new jobs are anticipated to be created in the travel and tourism sector over the next ten years, accounting for one out of every eight occupations. During a virtual meeting conducted from Brussels, Julia Simpson, President & CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), presented this insight. The WTTC, in partnership with Oxford Economics, released its 2025 Economic Impact Report on Wednesday. The report showcases new information on international travel trends and industry development forecasts.
According to Simpson, the industry is expected to sustain an astounding 460 million jobs by 2035, or around one out of every eight jobs worldwide. According to previous research by Emirates Group and Dubai Airports, Dubai’s aviation sector is anticipated to generate an additional 185,000 jobs over the next five years.
This suggested that the hiring boom in Dubai’s aviation and airline industries, which started in late 2021 following the height of COVID-19, would continue. As travel resumed, the demand for additional pilots, cabin crew, and ground personnel surged to previously unheard-of levels.
In addition to hiring for other roles, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is prepared to add hundreds of pilots to support its expanding network and fleet.
