UAE Provides a Comprehensive List of Steps Needed to Modify an Overstayer’s Visa Status

Residents and visa violators can modify their status by remaining and working in the United Arab Emirates in accordance with the regulation option during the amnesty period, which runs until October 30, 2024. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has identified all the specific procedures required.

According to the ICP, a person whose residency has expired and who does not have a work permit issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) but who still wants to remain in the nation by the regulations is considered a residency violator.

Violators in this category must follow two processes. They are free to join another company, but in order to comply with this process, the new employer must apply for a new work permit issued by the MoHRE or the ICP, depending on the type of his establishment.

The ICP stated that in the event that a worker who has violated the law wants to start working for a new employer, the latter must apply for the issuance of a work permit. If the worker wants to leave the country, he must apply for an exit permit through the ICP systems.

Residency violators with expired residency must follow one of two procedures, a work permit issued by the MoHRE, and a work interruption complaint filed against them.
