The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has confirmed June 30th as the last day to meet the Emiratization targets for the first half of 2024. In line with the decisions made by the Council of Ministers, these targets seek to increase the proportion of UAE citizens holding skilled jobs at organisations employing fifty or more by 1%.
The ministry clarified in a press release that, as of July 1st, it will start assessing companies’ compliance levels about reaching their mandated goals before levying the appropriate financial penalties on non-compliant establishments.
The ministry also congratulated businesses for reaching the necessary growth, stressing the importance of Emirati nationals signing up for the Wage Protection System (WPS) and a pension fund. By June 30th, it was expected of these establishments to guarantee that the growth rates they have attained will continue.
With the UAE experiencing rapid economic growth that is changing all business sectors, the ministry reaffirmed its confidence in companies’ ability to fulfil their commitments. It also pointed out that hiring UAE nationals for jobs in the private sector has significantly increased the value of the business sector.
Additionally, the ministry encouraged businesses that haven’t yet reached their goals to utilise the digital platform of the Nafis Programme, which gives them access to a large pool of competent Emirati job candidates.
