The Philippine Tourism Secretary, Maria Christina Garcia Frasco, leads a delegation to the “Arabian Travel Mart (ATM) 2024.” The goal is to make the archipelago of 7,641 islands a “tourism powerhouse in Asia.
Under the ATM theme of “Empowering Innovation-Transforming Travel through Entrepreneurship,” the group, which includes 16 private sector players and “select” House of Representatives members, is focused on raising awareness about the Travel Philippines app, a Department of Tourism (DoT) and Tourism Promotions Board (TBP) project, and the existence of 19 Investment Promotions (IPs) agencies.
TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles told Gulf Today that the Travel Philippines app is a valuable resource for travel information and a passport to discover uncharted destinations. Users can create their unique journeys through the country’s diverse provinces, gain access to exclusive travel deals and promotions, and easily manage digital travel documents. It aims to bridge the gap between wanderlust and convenience.
The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone is primarily responsible for promoting the islands as an international destination for world-class resorts, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment. It is also hoped that these agendas will create livelihood opportunities for 5.35 million Filipinos, or 11.4% of the country’s total employment, who are reliant on tourism and tourism-related work.
