Figures issued by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) stated that 3.67 million overnight guests visited Dubai in January–February 2024, representing a YoY growth of almost 18%.
Europe topped the list of visitor origins for the January–February 2024 period, accounting for 773,000 travelers (21%) of all visitors. Gulf Cooperation Council nations came in second with 549,000 visits (15%), followed by South Asia with 604,000 visitors (17%).
530,000 (14%) of the visitors from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eastern Europe arrived in Dubai, placing them fourth, while 448,000 (12%) came from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, placing them fifth. In the meantime, 340,000 travelers (9%) came from North and Southeast Asia; 240,000 came from the Americas; 138,000 came from Africa; and 53,000 came from Australia, making up around 1% of the total.
The study also revealed that during the same period in 2024, there were 151,269 hotel rooms spread over 826 establishments, up from 148,450 available rooms across 813 establishments in January and February of 2023. The final average occupancy rate was 87%, a 3% increase.
