Apple Reduces Ataff after Abandoning Ambitions for Self-Driving Cars

After purportedly abandoning its aspirations for self-driving cars, Apple has reportedly slashed more than 600 positions.

According to Bloomberg, the address of the location that was involved in the recently shelved self-driving car project in California is where most of the cuts originate.

On March 28, the state’s employment department received notice that 614 employees would be let off in May. We’ve contacted Apple for a response.

Unlike other companies that have let off hundreds of thousands of workers since the pandemic, the computer behemoth has escaped huge layoffs in recent years Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, stated to CNBC in May of last year that layoffs would be a “last resort.”.

Prominent corporations, including Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Snap, and PayPal, are a few of the tech organizations that have declared layoffs for 2024.

Comparatively speaking, Apple has let go of considerably fewer employees than its rivals.
GlobalData estimates that it employs 161,000 people worldwide.

Though “no one is immune to job cuts,” according to industry analyst Paolo Pescatore of PP Foresight, Apple is the most valued firm in the world.

“While this might seem significant given that it relates to Apple as one of the last big tech giants to make job cuts, it is not driven by the need for efficiencies,” adds Pescatore.
He continues, “It seems more like a deliberate focus shift into other new, rising fields like AI.
