We recently had the privilege of interviewing Saad Anwar, the Co-Founder and CEO of Senyar Arabian Trading Company and European Segment Company. As a self-made millionaire, investor, serial entrepreneur, and inspiration to dreamers, Saad Anwar knows the value of trust and teamwork in both personal and professional spheres.
Saad Anwar broke barriers and emerged as a compassionate and grateful leader. In this insightful session, Saad Anwar shares about his early life and career trajectory, challenges, and achievements, and offers a glimpse of his upcoming plans.
The Beginning
We started the interview by asking, “Could you start by telling us about your professional career path and educational background?”
He shared, “At an early age, I moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, due to my father’s work in 2003. To accompany my family, as I am from a humble background, I started my professional career at the early age of 18.
My professional journey started back in 2016, when I passed my higher secondary education, I went for a job interview that same evening. I started my career as a Client Relations Executive at a consulting firm, where I got the opportunity to understand various niches in the industry. My span at the firm lasted for about 5 months as I was let go due to restructuring of the organization.”
He added, “However, in the same year, I held multiple positions in multiple organizations till 2017. I decided to quit taking jobs further and pursue launching my business in March of the same year. Then, in the following year, I opened SHM to enhance the talent of the youth in Jeddah and served as its board member for a year. I joined Senyar Arabian Trading Company as a co-partner in 2018 and served as its operation manager until 2022. In 2021, I bought an international company European Segment Company in Slovakia. In the same year, along with my partners, I acquired Senyar Arabian Trading and made it under our name as official foreign investor in Saudi Arabia.
Since 2022, I have been serving as the CEO of Senyar Arabian Trading Company. After being featured on the cover of Business Outreach magazine in 2023 with the title of Business Leaders of The Year 2023, I started investing in local businesses.”
On Being An Efficient Leader
Eager to learn more about Saad Anwar’s leading approach in his business, we asked, “How would you describe your leadership style within the context of the media industry?”
He shared, “Leaders empower idealism when they pray for the development and growth of the team. For me, success is a partnership of efforts with like-minded individuals. And the company grows when everyone from the team grows.
There can be different opinions as everyone has their process of work. But the idea is to always come together and form a company that showcases diversity, inclusion, and equity. I have always allowed my staff to come out of their comfort zone and exceed their limits.”
Adaptability Amidst Uncertainties
Challenging phases are an inevitable part of every business journey. So, we asked Saad Anwar, “What have been some of the most significant hurdles you’ve encountered in your business, and how did you address them?”
Saad shared, “Back in 2017, I was quite struggling as I was consistently aiming to set up my business under the regulation of the Government of Saudi Arabia. My creativity and zeal to provide stellar results were often exploited by several. But I let those times be present in my mind as a reminder of all that I have come through.
Founding Senyar, it was a great challenge for me to start immediate progress, I took the challenge upon myself, looking after the front-end departments like accounts, operations, sales, and marketing.
This division offered employment opportunities in the areas of accounts, operations, administration, sales, and marketing. I became the operations manager where I steered my role towards management, finance control, planning, and development.”
Worth Sharing Milestones
To learn more about the triumphs of Saad Anwar’s business, we inquired, “What has been your business’s biggest achievement to date?”
Saad said, “In October 2021, the Government of Saudi Arabia permitted foreigners to start businesses in the country and this step turned out to be a massive success for me and my team. I acquired Senyar Arabian Trading Co. in July 2022.
The massive levels of success allowed me to start an investment company for investing in small and medium-sized businesses, where I also provided my mentorship support for small and medium-sized businesses. I have never taken a day off at work. And I am so fulfilled by the benchmarks I have achieved so far.”
Plans We Asked Saad Anwar
We were intrigued to get a glimpse of the upcoming plans of Saad Anwar’s business and if they have any exciting events coming up. So, we asked, “Could you tell us more about your services/products and if you have any upcoming plans?”
Saad shared, “I am currently inclined towards being an international investor and diverting my experiences towards businesses and startups, while opening a holding company with acquiring companies and its assets.
We should look into ourselves for we are the author of our success. I started my career from nil and currently standing as an entrepreneur and self-made millionaire. Opportunity did not gladly approach me and I had to step into several uncharted territories before finding his ultimate quest.”
