Residents and visitors rushed to the newest branch of a UAE-based retail business on Friday, south of Dubai. Even before the customary 10 a.m. opening hours, a queue of people reflecting the diverse ethnic makeup of the seven emirates formed at the Sharaf DG’s main entrance at Ibn Batutta Mall.
Some even snatched one or two portions of the four-page brochure to evaluate the reduced rates of a variety of goods, ranging from the most basic yet current mobile phones, home appliances, other electronic devices, and smartphones. The ribbon-cutting ceremony began quickly.
“In 2006, we had our first outlet at the China Pavilion. We are currently at the Persia Court of the same mall. This is slightly smaller than the previous one. But this is more attractive,” retired Dubai Police Major General Sharafuddin Sharaf, vice chairman of the Sharaf Group founded in 1968, told Gulf Today.
More appealing because, first and foremost, it is placed in the centre of the mall, allowing us to serve a wider range of people from our community,” he explained. Sharaf went further: “This confirms our dedication and our bigger plans for expansion.”
Sharaf DG, founded in Dubai 19 years ago, is a retail segment of the Sharaf Group, which has captured international markets over the last 56 years through its diverse portfolio involvement in shipping and logistics, travel and tourism, information technology, industrial, hospitality and real estate, and financial services.
