For the benefit of the UAE community, the Ministry of Economy unveiled a new accelerator and roadmap that would significantly shorten the time it takes to approve intellectual property (IP) applications in the green and sustainable sectors.

To assist any applicant who possesses a patent related to sustainability or green energy, we developed an accelerator program. Instead of one or two years, it will take three months, or no more than six months, to approve the application, Al Muaini stated. A committee for the accelerator program can investigate an applicant’s request to waive the fee as well,” he said.
According to Marwa Al Harmoodi, chief innovation manager and IP specialist at the Ministry of Economy, the “Green Intellectual Property” program would promote projects in water, solar, wind, and ocean energy, as well as any other sustainability area. She clarified that educational and research institutions as well as all UAE citizens are welcome to participate.
