The government said late Saturday that Britain would be the first nation to enact legislation prohibiting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to create images of sexual abuse.
Interior Minister Yvette Cooper announced that the government will make it unlawful to own, develop, or disseminate AI tools that produce sexualised photographs of children. Violations of this law might result in a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
Additionally, having “paedophile manuals” that educate individuals how to utilise AI to sexually abuse children will be prohibited and carry a maximum sentence of three years in prison. This phenomenon is truly unsettling. The amount of online content about child sexual abuse is increasing, as is the grooming of kids and teens.
AI tools, according to her, are making it simpler for criminals “to groom children, and it’s also meaning that they are manipulating images of children and then using them to draw and to blackmail young people into further abuse.” She went on, “It’s just the most vile of crimes,”
According to the minister, “some of the AI models being used for child abuse” would be prohibited by the new law. “Other countries are not yet doing this, but I hope everyone else will follow,” she stated.
By “nudeifying” actual photos of children or “stitching the faces of other children onto existing images,” artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms are being used to create images of child sexual abuse, federal officials stated.
