Following the release of Israeli hostages by the Palestinian militant group over the weekend, which he compared to Holocaust survivors, President Trump declared on Sunday that he was growing impatient with the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Trump’s response to pictures of the three hostages, who looked thin when they were released on Saturday, raised new questions about the deal’s future before the remaining 76 hostages are released. The president had just days earlier demanded that the U.S. take control of the enclave and that Palestinians be removed from it.

On Saturday, gunmen led Or Levy, who was kidnapped that day from the Nova music festival, and Ohad Ben Ami and Eli Sharabi, who were taken hostage from Kibbutz Be’eri during the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, onto a Hamas podium before being released to Israeli authorities.
The truce was reached in January, 15 months into the war, and the three men seemed to be in worse shape than the 18 other hostages who had already been released under it. Israel has also released several Palestinian inmates who had looked gaunt and malnourished.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, stated on Saturday that the sight of the weak hostages was startling and would be dealt with. Israel released 183 Palestinian inmates in return for the three guys.
