A woman who had hired a female employee through two males was awarded Dhs20,000 as compensation by the Al Ain Court of Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Cases after it was shown that the employee was ill and required surgery. They allegedly refused to return the worker and the money she had paid when she asked them to.
According to the information, a woman sued two males and demanded Dhs30,000 in damages for the material and moral harm she had suffered, together with Dhs30,000 for legal fees and costs. The plaintiff claimed that after paying Dhs15,000 to the appellees to recruit a worker, it was discovered that the worker was ill and required surgery. They turned down her request to return the employee and receive her money back. She also mentioned that the Court of Cassation had upheld their conviction in a case.
As stated in the criminal judgment, the court clarified that it is clear from the documents that the appellees had acted as a mediator for the hiring of workers without authorization from the appropriate government.
The court further explained that the appellees’ representative had not provided any proof of innocence regarding the amount; as a result, the court determined that Dhs15,000, in addition to Dhs5,000 as moral compensation, was adequate compensation for the plaintiff’s injuries.
