The FBI is looking into a possible act of terrorism in which a pickup truck driver crashed into a group of New Orleans revelers on Bourbon Street early on New Year’s Day, killing ten people. According to New Orleans police, the driver got out of the truck after it had stopped and started shooting at the responding officers. The Texas man who killed at least ten people in a suspected terror incident in New Orleans is not thought to have acted alone, according to the FBI.
At a press conference, Alethea Duncan, an assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s New Orleans field office, stated that investigators are actively looking for the individual, who has been named as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, and any potential connections.
The FBI has established that Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, 42, is the driver responsible for the ten fatalities and several injuries in New Orleans. According to the FBI, investigators are looking into a Daesh flag that was found in the car and are trying to learn more about Jabbar’s past.
