During a visit to a cathedral on Monday, a protester heckled King Charles by questioning him about Prince Andrew’s link to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The man inquired as to whether the King had asked the police to “cover up” for Andrew and how long he had known about his brother and Epstein.
A woman who urged him to “shut up” was among many who loudly supported the King in response to his protest. Loud cries of “three cheers for the King” were also heard. In recent weeks, Prince Andrew’s connections to Epstein have come under close examination. The prince has vehemently denied any wrongdoing and gave up his titles earlier this month.
The King was in Staffordshire for an engagement at Lichfield Cathedral, and throngs of fans had queued to greet him. The lone protester was captured on camera saying: “How long have you been aware of Andrew and Epstein? Have you asked the police to hide Andrew’s identity? Should Members of Parliament be permitted to discuss the royal family in the Commons?
Several admirers screamed as the King continued to greet them without answering any questions. A fan can be heard requesting an embrace from him. The demonstrator appeared to irritate many people outside the church, with one woman urging him to “go away and leave him alone.
