3.  Jeroom Remmers: The Strategist Aligning Agri-Food Markets with Planetary Limits

Jeroom Remmers

In today’s dynamic times, leaders like Jeroom Remmers are making the world a better place through their pioneering work towards sustainability. Remmers brings his over three decades of experience at the intersection of sustainability, public policy, and social change in food systems and climate policies.

Reflecting strong leadership, particularly in food-system reform, he has founded and serves as the director of the True Animal Protein Price (TAPP) Coalition. Through this initiative, he has championed the idea that market prices should better reflect environmental and social costs. The coalition now represents over 80 partner organisations, including 15,000 European businesses, Dutch farmer organisations, and several NGOs related to environment, health, animal welfare, food, science, or youth.

Throughout his professional journey, Remmers has offered his expertise across sectors, built coalitions, and influenced systems. He has also challenged conventional thinking on some of society’s most complex issues, right from climate change and sustainable agriculture to responsible business and food pricing. “I believe in reduced taxes and more subsidies for healthy, sustainable foods and higher prices and taxes for foods with negative impacts on climate and public health. This is similar to what over 50 countries do in the energy transition: taxing or pricing fossil fuels and subsidizing sustainable energy,” he adds. Remmers’ journey has been marked by his unwavering conviction, “Meaningful progress happens when vision is translated into practical action.”

With senior leadership and advisory roles over the years, Remmers has advised businesses and government, while actively contributing to environmental initiatives and food-system transformation. This cross-sector vision is one of the defining strengths of Remmers’ leadership, helping him bridge conversations that others often struggle to connect.

Reflecting on his ability to unite diverse voices stems from a pragmatic mindset, Remmers mentions, “By building common grounds, I’ve focused on bringing together stakeholders with different interests, in the EU and globally, including the UN Climate conferences.” Rather than treating sustainability as a collection of isolated projects, he approaches it as a challenge that requires economic, environmental, and social objectives to move together.

Beyond policy and advocacy, Remmers has contributed to the broader conversation on leadership itself. As co-author of a book on inspiring leadership, “Leidraad voor Inspirerend Leiderschap,” he explored the qualities that enable leaders to navigate uncertainty and drive meaningful transformation. Recognizing his exceptional contributions, Remmers has been honored with several recognitions, including the Sabre Award for best European PA campaign 2021, TAPP Coalition/OPRG for their ‘True Meat Price’ campaign.

At a time when sustainability and public health challenges are becoming increasingly urgent, while climate change already is causing food price inflation and losses of harvests and livestock across the world, Remmers continues to advocate for solutions that combine ambition with practicality. His career demonstrates that impactful leadership is not defined by titles or visibility alone, but by the ability to connect ideas, people, and institutions around a shared purpose.

Looking ahead, his mission remains consistent: helping societies and organizations align economic success with environmental responsibility and social progress. In a world searching for workable pathways toward a sustainable future, Jeroom Remmers exemplifies a form of leadership grounded not only in vision, but in the determination to turn that vision into measurable change.

5. Inaas Abdalla’s Vision on Building Ethical Beauty Products

Inaas Abdalla

The beauty industry has rapidly evolved over the last few years, with innovative products getting launched every few months. But leaders like Inaas Abdalla did not enter the field by launching a product, rather, she started with the ingredient list and worked backwards from there. Often called Inaas, which is more Arabic, but her actual Latin name being Inês, is someone who does not hop into every trend when it comes to skincare, she believes in building products that genuinely work.

With an MBA in Business Administration and Management Operations from Oneday, in partnership with Woolf University, she was instilled with the strategic vision required in building successful ventures. Additionally, as a Skin Masterclass Certified and Licensed Skincare Consultant™ trained under Cigdem Kemal Yilmaz, Chemical Engineer, Skincare Formulator, and founder of the globally award-winning Skin Masterclass PRO programme, Inaas learned to read INCI ingredient lists the way a formulator does: not for claims, but for molecular function, efficacy, and anything that undermines long-term skin health. That professional rigour became the standard she has never lowered.

Her first brand, InêSKN, was a reflection of Inaas’ expertise as a professional consultant and a strong academic foundation. As she realised a market gap between genuine skincare and real-life requirements, Inaas decided to build InêSKN to fill that gap. From analyzing the formulations to assessing the right ingredient concentrations, she did everything from scratch. In 2022, Inaas launched Inês Cosmetics, a brand built around premium, sustainable DIY cluster lash extensions that allow women to achieve salon-quality results at home.

Eventually, her latest development is YIP, the AI-powered, founder-first community Inaas launched in January 2026, and leads today as its Executive Director. With two vocational qualifications, one from Mindvalley, and another from Google both completed in 2023, helped her learn more about AI and machine learning. Built for entrepreneurs who want to think clearly, build systematically, and grow with intention, YIP is an extension of the philosophy that runs through her brands: rigour over trend, substance over noise.

Inaas has also spoken on the WOHA Women of Heart Awards stage as part of the We Go Black event, and continues to build her voice as a trusted educator across Instagram and Facebook, where her educational content cuts through the marketing confusion that defines so much of the beauty industry.

Her exceptional contributions have earned Inaas several recognitions, including the title of Leader in Ethical Cosmetics and Expert in Skin Health by the Women of Heart Awards in May 2026. She is even a nominee for awards in this field in Dubai and London, while being a sponsor of Women Of Hearts Awards, and has received the UAE Stories Awards for 2026 for Inês Cosmetics. These recognitions are a reflection of how her work is not just here for the trends, it is here to make a difference.

Looking ahead, Inaas Abdalla will keep working across her roles with a consistent belief: that real beauty is built on knowledge, integrity, and the courage to hold a higher standard.

7. Mario N. Rimbano | Engineering Reliability for Generations through RECANATI Europe

Nadim Abboud

A pioneering force and innovator in the field of HDPE pipe fittings, Mario N. Rimbano’s leadership is dedicated to development of polyethylene infrastructure systems. With a leadership approach which is rarely found in today’s dynamic business world, he brings hands-on experience of more than 45 years in the field. A Master’s degree in Engineering earned through on-the-job training, rather than at traditional universities, instilled in him the skills and expertise, shaping Mario into the leader he is today. He even has 39 industrial patents, alongside devoting his time to research and development.

As the Founder and CEO of RECANATI Europe, Mario has built one of the leading manufacturers of advanced connection systems for polyethylene water and gas networks. Found in Italy, and active across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the US, RECANATI Europe produces accessories not only in HDPE, but also in steel, to meet all plant engineering requirements. For more than four decades of its existence, the company’s mission has remained clear: to make critical infrastructure safer, more reliable, and capable of serving future generations.

Specialised in the development and manufacturing of transition fittings, manifolds and accessories for liquid and gaseous distribution networks for the Utilities and Energy industries, RECANATI Europe aims at environmental sustainability, and is continuously committed to corporate social responsibility.

Mario reflects, “Polyethylene has become one of the most important materials for modern water and gas distribution networks due to its durability, flexibility and resistance to corrosion. Yet experience has shown that the greatest risks rarely originate from the pipe itself. The real challenge lies in the connection between different materials. This is where RECANATI Europe has built its expertise.”

Through continuous research, field experience and engineering development, RECANATI Europe has created innovative solutions designed to improve the safety, reliability and long-term performance of water and gas infrastructures operating under the most demanding conditions. Today, utilities, contractors and infrastructure operators in more than 40 countries rely on RECANATI Europe technologies to reduce water losses, increase network reliability, minimize maintenance costs and protect strategic assets that communities depend on every day.

With a simple philosophy: the pipe is rarely the problem; the connection is where engineering makes the difference, RECANATI Europe has been actively reshaping practical experience into innovative solutions, from Italy to the world. Under the efficient leadership of Mario, the company continues to challenge conventional approaches and promote engineering solutions designed to withstand time rather than simply satisfy today’s requirements.

For RECANATI Europe, innovation is not about creating something new for the sake of novelty; it is about creating solutions that future generations will never have to worry about.

8. Jacques Christopher Lomani on Building Digital Models Made for Africa’s Needs

Jacques Christopher Lomani

In today’s digital age, when every industry is being reshaped by technological advancements, Jacques Christopher Lomani is creating digital models designed specifically to meet the needs of Africa. He states, “Africa does not need to copy digital models built elsewhere. It needs technology designed around its own realities, its own constraints, and its own ambitions.”

As an entrepreneur, digital transformation strategist, and technology builder, he is dedicated to developing practical digital infrastructure for businesses, institutions, and communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo and throughout Africa. With a career at the intersection of artificial intelligence, software development, business productivity, and digital inclusion, he has built ventures that are designed for the region.

As the Founder of Infinity Group Solutions, a Congolese digital services company, he aligned his vision of helping organizations modernize their operations through custom-built technology. Jacques shares, “Through the company, we develop web applications, mobile applications, professional websites, business platforms, automation tools, AI-powered solutions, and digital transformation strategies for companies and institutions operating in the DRC.”

Behind building Infinity Group Solutions, lies a clear observation of Jacques: many organizations in the DRC and across Africa still rely on manual, paper-based, fragmented, or outdated processes, resulting in reduced productivity, slow decision-making, increased operational costs, and limited ability of companies to scale. Jacques believes that digital tools are not only a matter of convenience, but a driver of economic productivity. By helping companies move from archaic processes to structured digital systems, Infinity Group Solutions aims to increase efficiency, strengthen competitiveness, and contribute to the broader economic development of Africa.

The company’s services span custom software development, web and mobile development, process automation, AI integration, HR and internal management platforms, digital advisory, and tailored business applications. Having worked on a wide range of projects, from platforms for business management and logistics to HR tools, medical platforms, and more, its approach is not to impose generic technology, but to understand the reality of each organization and build tools adapted to its operational needs.

Jacques has also worked on the democratization of Artificial Intelligence in the DRC. In 2023, following the global rise of generative AI tools, he launched the first Congolese-built AI chatbot initiative designed specifically to make artificial intelligence accessible to users in the Democratic Republic of Congo. At the time, global AI tools were not accessible to Congolese users. This is what led Jacques to develop his own AI chatbot, as he did not want people from Congo to be left behind in a world where AI can be a true competitive advantage.

Rather than presenting the initiative as the creation of a foundational AI model, Jacques positioned it as a practical and locally adapted AI access platform. The chatbot named “Jacques” adapted the user experience to local realities. One of its adaptations was the integration of Congolese mobile money systems such as M-Pesa, Orange Money, and Airtel Money, making premium AI tools accessible to users without international bank cards. The initiative also included a free version, reflecting his broader belief that artificial intelligence should not be limited only to users with high purchasing power.

For Jacques, this platform was not just a technology experiment; it was a statement about digital inclusion. His ambition was to ensure that the DRC would not be left behind in the global AI transformation. By building a locally accessible AI chatbot, he wanted to give students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and organizations in Congo a way to experience and use AI tools in their daily work.

In 2026, Jacques expanded his entrepreneurial journey into digital health through OpenAfya, a health-tech venture formally launched in June 2026. OpenAfya is building a digital health ecosystem designed for African realities, starting with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The venture combines two complementary pillars: a digital health platform, and a connected medical device designed to enrich remote consultations.

The word “Afya” means “health” in Swahili, one of Africa’s most widely spoken languages. The name reflects OpenAfya’s ambition to build a health solution that is both technologically modern and culturally connected to the continent. The platform allows patients to search for doctors by specialty, location, or health facility, book appointments online, receive reminders, access teleconsultations, and centralize their medical history.

On the provider side, the platform helps doctors, hospitals, clinics, and reception teams manage appointments, patient flows, consultations, agendas, and certain operational data. The long-term ambition is to connect patients, doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, insurers, and companies into a single digital ecosystem. Jacques sees this as a necessary step because access to care does not depend only on the existence of doctors. It also depends on information, orientation, availability, coordination, payment, insurance coverage, pharmacy access, and reliable medical data.

The second pillar of OpenAfya is a connected medical device: a portable kit capable of collecting useful patient data remotely. The device is designed to capture indicators such as blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation, heart and lung sounds through a connected stethoscope, and medical images of areas such as the throat, ears, skin, or eyes through an integrated camera. The objective is not to replace doctors, but to give them better information earlier through teleconsultation, even when the patient is not physically present.

Jacques believes that telemedicine in Africa cannot be limited to a simple video call where the patient describes symptoms without a clinical context. In many cases, doctors need concrete data to assess urgency, guide decisions, prioritize patients, and improve the quality of care. OpenAfya therefore aims to make remote consultations more useful, more structured, and more medically relevant.

This dual approach, combining a digital health platform with a connected medical device, is what makes OpenAfya distinctive. Many digital health initiatives focus either on appointment booking or on teleconsultation, while others focus only on medical hardware. OpenAfya’s ambition is to combine both: a platform to organize access to care, and a device to make remote medical assessment more meaningful.

The health-tech project, originally recognized under the name MAVIMPY and now being launched as OpenAfya, won the top award at the Innovation and Startup Investment Forum in May 2026, which contributed to Jacques Lomani’s participation at VivaTech 2026, held from June 17 to June 20. Jacques was even selected among the top 10 finalists at the Innovation and Startup Investment Forum 2026, further reinforcing his position as an emerging technology entrepreneur working on solutions adapted to African markets.

His academic and professional background also shaped his approach to technology and entrepreneurship. Jacques graduated with a Master’s degree in Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics in 2022, after receiving two excellence scholarships. During his studies, he was selected as a representative of the 2022 Master’s cohort and delivered a speech at graduation. He also gained academic experience by teaching Economics to about 100 undergraduate students. These experiences helped him develop a strong analytical foundation, a structured understanding of economic systems, and a practical approach to business problem-solving.

Beyond entrepreneurship, Jacques has participated in public discussions, media appearances, and radio programs related to technology, artificial intelligence, and Africa’s digital future. His broader message is that African countries should not only consume foreign technologies, but also build tools adapted to their own economic, social, and institutional realities.

Across his two ventures, Jacques’s work is guided by a common conviction: technology must solve real problems. For Infinity Group Solutions, this means helping businesses become more productive and competitive through digital tools. For OpenAfya, it means making healthcare access more structured, more intelligent, and more useful for both patients and medical professionals.

From Jacques’ perspective, 2026 is a pivotal year. Through Infinity Group Solutions, he aims to strengthen the digital transformation of companies and institutions in the DRC. Through OpenAfya, he aims to contribute to a more connected, efficient, and accessible healthcare system. These ventures are a reflection of his long-term ambition to help build African technology infrastructure that is not copied from other markets, but designed from the ground up for African needs.

Jacques’s leadership philosophy is built around practical impact. He believes technology should be judged not by how impressive it sounds, but by how clearly it solves real operational problems, improves productivity, and gives people better access to essential services. By combining ambition with realism, he is interested in innovation, but not innovation disconnected from the ground.

For Jacques, the best digital products are those that understand local constraints: how people pay, how institutions operate, how companies manage their workflows, how patients search for care, and how professionals make decisions under pressure.
