Meet the Leaders Transforming Industries

Below are the top 10 inspiring leaders recognised for their vision, leadership, innovative thinking, and contributions to the transformation of their industries.

1. Christina Taft and Luxury for Good: Redefining Elegance Through Purpose

Christina Taft

Christina Taft is an entrepreneur, innovator, collaborator, marketer, and humanitarian whose work brings together luxury, philanthropy, international relationships, and meaningful social impact. As a multiple founder, she has developed initiatives focused on innovation, leadership, and positive contribution, with a strong interest in turning ideas into action. Her experience across luxury, communications, partnerships, and international markets has shaped a clear belief that success should be measured not only by what is achieved, but also by what is given back.

With a background in Luxury Management from the International University of Monaco, Christina has built her work around quality, careful planning, strong relationships, and attention to detail. She understands the expectations of premium markets and the importance of presenting people, brands, and ideas in the right way. Her experience in public and business relations has also helped her work with different audiences and build relationships across international networks. She places discretion over exposure, trust over transactions, and quality over quantity.

These principles come together through Luxury for Good, the initiative Christina founded to give luxury a deeper sense of purpose. Drawing inspiration from Monaco and its traditions of refinement and philanthropy, the initiative is built around four values: exclusivity, quality, trust, and kindness. Christina believes that luxury does not need to lose its elegance or exclusivity to have a positive purpose. Instead, it can be used to create meaningful experiences, encourage generosity, support humanitarian work, and bring the right people together around causes that matter.

Christina’s interests extend across luxury markets, strategic partnerships, communications, and humanitarian work. She has a particular ability to take an idea and work through the practical steps needed to bring it to life. Her approach involves understanding complex situations, finding opportunities, building the right relationships, and maintaining high standards throughout the process. She has also created Motivationology, a theory centred on motivation, resilience, action, and empowerment, reflecting her belief that people should focus on their strengths and find ways to move forward rather than remain defined by their limitations.

A deeply personal influence behind Christina’s philosophy is her mother, Victoria “Vicki” Taft. Remembered for her elegance, warmth, humour, beauty, and generous spirit, Victoria embodied many of the qualities that Christina now carries into her own work. For Christina, her mother showed that elegance was about much more than appearance. It was about how a person treated others, the warmth they brought into a room, and their ability to make people feel welcome and valued.

That influence has become an important part of Luxury for Good. Christina’s work places genuine relationships above transactions and meaningful contribution above publicity. Through the initiative, she encourages luxury brands, philanthropists, family offices, and influential individuals to consider how their resources, relationships, and influence can be used for the benefit of others. In doing so, she is also honouring the values she learned from Victoria.

Christina Taft’s journey shows how personal values can become the foundation for a wider purpose. Her work brings together ambition and ethics, commercial understanding and humanitarian values, elegance and kindness. Rather than treating these qualities as separate, she sees them as parts of the same approach to leadership and success.

Through Luxury for Good, Christina is offering a thoughtful view of what luxury can mean today. For her, its greatest value is not simply in what someone owns or experiences, but in what they can contribute. Guided by her mother’s example and her own experience across luxury, business, and international relationships, Christina continues to build a vision where quality is accompanied by kindness, influence is used responsibly, and success has a positive effect on the people around it.

2. George Winstone | Building a More Accessible Future for Textile Recycling

George Winstone

A piece of clothing does not have to end its journey when it leaves someone’s wardrobe. It can be collected, sorted, reused, recycled, and given a purpose beyond its first life. Making that second journey possible, however, requires more than awareness. It requires the right networks, partnerships, and systems to make recycling easy and accessible.

This is where George Winstone brings his experience into focus. With a professional background spanning corporate insurance, investments, alternative sectors, sales, and business development, George has built his career around relationships and commercial networks. Today, as Head of Distribution at Yalla Textiles, he is using that experience to help expand textile recycling across Dubai.

His work centres on developing strategic partnerships, increasing clothing-bank placements, strengthening commercial relationships, and creating efficient distribution channels. The aim is simple but ambitious: make it easier for businesses, communities, retailers, schools, organisations, and individuals to participate in textile recycling.

The clothing banks already provide a practical example of this approach. Yalla Textiles collection points have been placed in different community settings, including Atlantis, Club Padel Dubai, and a local mosque. By bringing collection points closer to where people live, work, visit, and spend their time, the process of donating unwanted textiles becomes a more natural part of everyday life.

Yalla Textiles is a Dubai-based textile recycling company focused on collecting, sorting, reusing, and recycling unwanted clothing, while creating wider environmental and community impact. For George, expanding this work means building a network that can operate efficiently and sustainably at scale.

3. Mohammad Seri Al Refai | Building Operations That Grow With the Business

Mohammad Seri Al Refai

“Strong operations are built on people, discipline, and the ability to keep moving as the business grows.”

For Mohammad Seri Al Refai, this is more than a business principle. It reflects the way he approached one of the most important responsibilities of his career: managing costs without losing the people an organisation depends on.

With more than 35 years of experience across facility management, waste management, human resources, and large-scale operations in the UAE, Mohammad has spent much of his career working at the point where people, budgets, and business performance meet. His experience has taught him that improving a company’s financial position does not necessarily require reducing its workforce.

His approach became particularly clear during his time at Al Bahiya Facilities and Services, where he served as Senior Operations Manager and Acting Executive Manager.

Rather than responding to cost pressures by terminating employees or reducing salaries, Mohammad looked at the cost structure itself. One of the measures he implemented was the hiring of Emirati employees, which reduced employment visa costs by approximately AED 2,000 per visa. According to Mohammad, this approach generated savings of more than AED 1 million annually in HR costs, while allowing the organisation to retain its existing workforce.

The result went beyond the financial savings. His approach contributed to Al Bahiya achieving Ministry of Labour Category A classification and recognition among the Top 10 employers for Emirati hiring under MOH. Mohammad was also featured on Ajman TV in connection with these achievements.

For him, the experience demonstrated an important point about leadership: solving a cost problem requires understanding where the cost actually comes from.

That way of thinking has followed Mohammad throughout his career. At Abu Dhabi International Cleaning Services (ADICS), where he served as General Manager and Operations Director from 2009 to 2018, he helped grow the workforce from two labourers to 840 while overseeing operations across catering, cleaning, landscaping, and waste management. His responsibilities included P&L management, cost control, contract negotiations, and operational planning.

At Comfort Pro Facility Management, where he has served as Operations Director since 2021, his responsibilities include managing service delivery, client requirements, workforce development, cost management, and business continuity across multiple locations.

Across these roles, Mohammad’s contribution has not simply been about managing larger teams or contracts. It has been about finding practical ways to make organisations work better.

His message to decision-makers is straightforward: cost reduction should not automatically come at the expense of employees. Sometimes, the better answer is to examine the structure, identify the unnecessary costs, and find an approach that improves the business without weakening the workforce.

That philosophy has become one of the defining lessons of Mohammad’s career: good leadership is not only about reducing expenditure. It is about finding smarter ways to create value.

6. Philip Weiser | Four Decades of Building Trust in Luxury Real Estate

Philip Weiser

“Luxury is not simply about owning an exceptional property. It is about the lifestyle, heritage, and lasting value that come with it.

For Philip, adapting to change does not mean abandoning the principles that built a business. It means finding new ways to deliver the same level of trust and service in an evolving market.

That balance between experience and innovation continues to shape Carlton International today. The 30-year renown of Carlton International has incited Philp to share the brand with select real estate companies, intent on increasing their visibility and their prestige around the world, so after more than 40 years in the industry, Philip Weiser’s story is not simply one of building a luxury real estate business. It is about developing long-term relationships, understanding the value attached to exceptional properties, and creating a brand capable of evolving without losing sight of what made it successful in the first place.

Today, Carlton International has established itself as a prominent name in luxury real estate on the Côte d’Azur, working across the region from the Italian frontier through Monaco, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez. Its services extend across property sales, prestigious villa rentals, investment advisory, property development, and asset management.

Over the course of more than four decades, Philip has worked with private clients, family offices, developers, and international investors on high-value acquisitions and strategic investments. Yet, for him, the relationship has always mattered as much as the transaction. Discretion, integrity, attention to detail, and personalised advice form the basis of the approach he has brought to Carlton International.

That philosophy has also shaped the wider Carlton Group. Under Philip’s leadership, the group has expanded to include Carlton Signature and Visua Concepts, bringing together luxury property brokerage, asset management, strategic marketing, and international brand licensing.

The luxury property market itself has changed considerably since Philip first entered the industry. Carlton International has responded by embracing new tools and approaches, including artificial intelligence, advanced digital marketing, and international brand licensing. At the same time, the company has remained committed to the personal service that has been central to its identity from the beginning.

For Philip, adapting to change does not mean abandoning the principles that built a business. It means finding new ways to deliver the same level of trust and service in an evolving market.

That balance between experience and innovation continues to shape Carlton International today. After more than 40 years in the industry, Philip Weiser’s story is not simply one of building a luxury real estate business. It is about developing long-term relationships, understanding the value attached to exceptional properties, and creating a brand capable of evolving without losing sight of what made it successful in the first place.

7. Samdavid Jeyaraj | Turning AI Strategy into Real Business Value

Samdavid Jeyaraj

“Think deeply. Build practically. Scale responsibly.”

AI is moving quickly into everyday business, but Samdavid Jeyaraj is focused on a more practical question: how can companies make AI genuinely useful? His work is about taking AI beyond experiments and finding ways for it to solve real business problems, improve everyday work, and create measurable value.

As an AI Transformation Leader, Enterprise AI Strategist, Agentic AI Practitioner, Researcher, Author, and Speaker, Samdavid currently works for Landmark Global – specializing in cross-border logistics, a bnode company. Working in an international logistics environment gives him a practical setting to explore how AI can be applied to real operational challenges. His work covers the journey from identifying a problem and developing an AI strategy to testing solutions, putting them into practice, and helping teams use them effectively.

One of the things that sets Samdavid’s approach apart is his focus on connecting ideas with actual business needs. He works with business, technology, data, security, and operations teams to understand problems and find practical ways AI can help. As he puts it, AI success isn’t about how much you build; it’s about how much friction you remove. This practical mindset guides how he evaluates AI opportunities, with the focus staying on solving problems rather than building technology for its own sake.

His work includes generative AI, Agentic AI, document processing, customs and product classification, forecasting, customer service, pricing, sales, and software development.

The goal behind these projects is simple: AI should make a difference. His work has focused on reducing manual work, improving decisions, strengthening compliance, increasing efficiency, and creating potential annual operational value worth hundreds of thousands of euros.

For Samdavid, however, individual AI projects are only the beginning. He sees a bigger opportunity in creating workplaces where AI tools, AI agents, company knowledge, and human expertise can work together.

Why Agentic AI Matters

A major area of Samdavid’s work today is Agentic AI.

He believes businesses will move beyond using AI simply as chatbots or assistants. Instead, AI agents could increasingly handle tasks such as finding information, working through problems, coordinating activities, and carrying out parts of a workflow.

But he does not believe that giving AI more control is enough.

His approach involves using different AI models and agents for different jobs, rather than depending on one technology. At the same time, people with real knowledge of logistics, customs, finance, pricing, and operations remain important in checking and improving how these AI systems work.

The idea is straightforward: AI can handle scale, people bring judgment, and clear rules help keep the process trustworthy.

Trust Has to Be Built In

Samdavid also believes that companies need to think about safety and trust from the beginning when building AI systems.

Privacy, security, data access, choosing the right model, checking results, and keeping people involved are all part of the process. These considerations should not be added only after an AI system has already been built.

For him, successful AI is not simply about whether a system works. It also needs to be secure, understandable, measurable, and trusted by the people using it.

Looking at the Human Side of AI

Alongside his professional work, Samdavid is pursuing doctoral-level business research on Agentic AI adoption and organisational productivity in logistics.

His research looks at a question that will become increasingly important as AI enters everyday work: what makes people trust AI enough to actually use it?

He is studying the relationship between Agentic AI adoption, trust in AI, AI governance, and organisational productivity. His professional experience gives him the opportunity to build and work with AI systems, while his research allows him to look more closely at the people and organisations using them.

Samdavid is also developing his ideas through writing and speaking. His work explores what happens when AI begins taking on parts of knowledge-based work and how people and AI systems can work together.

His speaking topics include building the Agentic Enterprise, Human + Agent Operating Models, Multi-Model AI Strategy, AI Governance, and moving from AI experiments to real business value.

Rather than focusing only on what AI might be able to do one day, Samdavid’s work asks a more practical question: what should businesses be doing today to prepare for it?

For Samdavid, the answer is not the number of AI models a company has built or the number of experiments it has completed.

Better decisions. Better customer experiences. Better productivity. Better business results.

That is the kind of AI transformation Samdavid Jeyaraj is working towards: technology that is not just impressive, but genuinely useful.

He is also the author of 12 published books, with additional books currently in process.

What ties Jay’s work together is his belief that transformation should benefit both the organisation and the people within it. Technology, processes, and systems can improve performance, but lasting results depend on capable leaders, strong teams, and a culture that can sustain those improvements.

After more than three decades in the field, Jay continues to work at that intersection, helping organisations approach AI, quality, leadership, and transformation with a practical focus on long-term performance rather than short-term change.

9. Nele De Smet | Building a Business Around Beauty, Purpose and People

Nele De Smet

“For me, being an entrepreneur is about creation.”

Nele De Smet is a second-generation family business owner, CEO, and mother of three sons. Her professional journey has taken her through different experiences before bringing her to Evolta, an engineering and architecture company with 125 professionals. Founded by her father, the company eventually became the place where she chose to take on a new challenge and build her own path as a leader.

In 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, Nele completed a family buyout and took full ownership of the company. It was a decision rooted not only in business, but in how strongly she believes in the work Evolta does. Her ambition is to build an organisation that makes a difference, both through the spaces it creates and through the way it contributes to a more sustainable world.

For Nele, the work is ultimately about people. She speaks about the happiness that can come from creating spaces where people feel at home, while also thinking about the wider responsibility that comes with designing and building for the long term. Her goal is to build on Evolta’s position in Belgium and eventually become a top 30 player in the European market.

Sustainability has become an important part of that direction. Nele recalibrated the company’s focus and defined its mission as “contributing to a beautiful world in balance, to happy people in development and to a sustainable organisation on the move.” She describes Evolta’s values as entrepreneurial, inventive, candid, and resilient, with resilience being particularly important to her understanding of sustainability.

Her own path into leadership was not conventional. At 18, Nele chose to study political and social sciences at the University of Ghent, majoring in communication. Alongside her university studies, she completed an evening course in journalism in Brussels and graduated with distinction in 1999. She later earned an MBA from Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School in 2000 and became an MIT alumnus in 2025, holding a degree as Chief Sustainability Officer. She has also received the Fire Hydrant Award.

But Nele is clear that a career is not built on qualifications and ambition alone. Nothing meaningful comes easy. Her journey has included doubt, difficult periods, uncertainty, and moments when taking the next step required courage. For her, the answer has been to continue, even when she was afraid.

Her own experience has taught her that courage is not about having no fear. It is about being willing to take the risk anyway. “Choose love, not fear” is one of the principles she lives by, alongside another simple reminder: “Be afraid and do it anyway.”

Going all in, working hard, adapting when circumstances change, and finding strength within herself have all played a part in her journey. She believes people often discover what they are capable of only when they test their boundaries and challenge their limits.

She also places great value on the people who stay. The people who stand beside you during difficult periods, rather than only appearing when everything is going well, become an important part of the journey. For Nele, success is not only about what you build, but also about who you build it with and who remains beside you along the way.

Behind the titles and achievements is a much more personal idea of leadership. Nele describes her vision simply: to create beauty and live fully. She sees beauty as something deeply personal, shaped by the person looking at it. Different perspectives, she believes, do not diminish beauty; they add to it.

That perspective reaches back to her childhood, when she says she looked at the world with wonder and found beauty in unexpected people and places. Today, she wants to carry that same sense of wonder into her work and her relationships, creating beauty wherever she goes and making the people she meets feel special.

Her understanding of life has also been shaped by loss. Saying goodbye to people she wanted to keep close taught her about the scarcity of time and the value of each moment. It strengthened her belief that what ultimately matters is how we touch other people’s lives and allow them to touch ours.

This is where her philosophy of “Panta Rhei”, meaning everything flows, becomes particularly important. For Nele, life and business are not meant to remain fixed. Things change, people change, and circumstances change. The challenge is to move with that change, rather than resist it.

She believes we should find our own state of flow and, just as importantly, find the people and places where we can grow and flow.

That philosophy is perhaps the clearest thread connecting Nele’s personal and professional life. She wants to create, to build, to make space for others, but also to encourage people to live in a way that feels genuinely their own. Her journey has shown her that growth requires both openness and courage: the willingness to change direction, challenge yourself, and keep going when things become difficult.

“Breathe. Love. Laugh. Dance. Rest. Strive. Stumble. Cry. Embrace. Break. Heal. Flow. Go. Roar. Mess it up. Try again. Be grateful and enjoy every piece of it.”

For Nele De Smet, building a company and building a life are not separate things. Both are about creation, beauty, resilience, courage, and making the most of the time we are given.

10. Ali Almakrami | Engineering, Leadership, and the Drive to Create Meaningful Impact

Ali Almakrami

Engineering is often associated with equations, technical knowledge, and problem-solving. For Ali Almakrami, an Electrical Engineering student at Najran University, it is also about people, leadership, and finding ways to turn ideas into meaningful outcomes.

While leadership has become an important part of Ali’s university experience, his focus remains connected to engineering. He continues to develop his capabilities in critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, creativity, innovation, adaptability, resilience, and strategic thinking.

Ali believes that becoming a successful engineer requires more than technical knowledge. The ability to communicate, collaborate, adapt to challenges, and make thoughtful decisions is equally important when turning technical knowledge into meaningful solutions.

This belief has encouraged him to look beyond the classroom and seek experiences that challenge him to take responsibility, work with others, and contribute to the wider academic community.

As Ali continues his studies at Najran University, he remains eager to learn, take on new challenges, and explore opportunities where engineering, innovation, and leadership come together.

His journey so far reflects his belief that meaningful impact comes from combining knowledge with initiative and collaboration. For Ali, becoming a successful engineer means being prepared to lead, solve complex problems, adapt to change, and turn ideas into solutions that matter.

It is this combination of engineering and leadership that continues to shape the professional he hopes to become.
