The Global Baku Forum in Azerbaijan concluded on Saturday with a panel discussing how to reset the international system and making dire predictions about what would happen if the conflict could not be resolved diplomatically. Some leaders cautioned that without a systemic change, history would repeat itself.
Boris Tadić, a democratic opposition leader under the Milosević dictatorship, also denounced current activities, including the US-led bombing of Serbia in 1999 during the Kosovo conflict without a UN resolution.
“When major powers attempt to subjugate portions of other sovereign nations or interfere, such as by kidnapping or assassinating presidents of other nations that are UN members.” This is a catastrophic circumstance. What is the answer, then? There is no way out without a UN-led reset, according to Tadić.
Tadić stated, “The White House and [US President] Donald Trump are failing, underestimating Iran.” “The conflict cannot be resolved in a matter of weeks.” The need for mediators is highlighted by the statement, “This is not feasible and this is not a likely solution of the current conflict.”
We are on the “wild side of history, and we have to come back to the international law, and this is the only solution we can have,” according to Tadić. “We must strengthen the authority of multilateral organizations and the United Nations.
