To expedite regulatory approvals for the food and water industry, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) recently announced a significant agreement with the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates. This agreement advances AGWA (AgriFood Growth and Water Abundance), Abu Dhabi’s recently established food and water economic cluster, which is expected to take the lead in international efforts to address food shortages and water scarcity.
AGWA, under the direction of ADDED and ADIO, is poised to emerge as a worldwide center for innovative food and ingredient products, along with technologies that facilitate the effective use of water resources and improve accessibility to them. This cutting-edge cluster is carefully crafted to assist both local exporters and suppliers, providing a platform to maximize business prospects. To ensure a stable and robust supply chain for food and water, the cluster seeks to meet the growing global demand, reduce pressure on agricultural systems, address changing dietary patterns, take advantage of technological advancements, and support global food security.
“Presenting AGWA’s Cluster Vision in our event today re-emphasizes its strategic alignment with national priorities around food and water security through more diversified and innovative interventions,” stated Mariam Bint Mohammed Almheiri, Head of the Presidential Court’s International Affairs Office. Abu Dhabi is in a strong position to drive the global development of alternative proteins and continue to grow.
