G7 Summit Countries Pledge Support for the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the three-day G7 Summit, where the G7 nations released the G7 Communique, in which they committed to supporting certain infrastructure projects such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to an international law-governed “free and open Indo-Pacific” at the G7 Summit. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who served as the summit’s host, invited Prime Minister Modi to attend.

The statement read, “We will further promote concrete G7 PGII (Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment) initiatives, flagship projects, and complementary initiatives to develop transformative economic corridors for quality infrastructure and investment, such as the deepening of our coordination and financing for the EU Global Gateway, the Great Green Wall Initiative, the Mattei Plan for Africa launched by Italy, and the Lobito Corridor, the Luzon Corridor, the Middle Corridor, and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

The IMEC, a revolutionary project, intends to build an extensive network of roads, railroads, and shipping lanes connecting Saudi Arabia, India, the US, and Europe. This program aims to promote integration between Western nations, the Middle East, and Asia.
