In Dubai, Salik has started the process of installing two new toll gates. The first is on Al Khail Street at the Business Bay Crossing, and the second is on Sheikh Zayed Road, which runs between Al Meydan and Umm Al Sheif Streets. The two gates will be fully operational by November 2024, in accordance with RTA’s plan, coinciding with the completion of the Al Khail Road Improvement Project.
Safa South Gate will be linked to the current Safa Gate (called ‘Safa North’), just like the Al Mamzar North and South Gates. This means that if a driver passes through both gates in the same direction within an hour, they will only be charged once. The initiative also demonstrates the RTA’s dedication to implementing policies that promote public transport use and lessen reliance on private vehicles.
Since the start of the year, Salik has focused its efforts on growing its core tariff collection business while also diversifying its revenue streams by implementing new strategic initiatives, according to Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, who released data for the second quarter and the first half of 2024.
