His Highness the President Together with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has witnessed the two countries’ Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Cepa) being signed.
Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Hon. Todd McClay, the New Zealand Minister for Trade, signed the agreement at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). It will lower trade barriers, improve customs processes, and encourage more private sector investment and cooperation. According to Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, the deal strengthened links with the vibrant Asia-Pacific region through one of its most advanced and open marketplaces, making it a significant contribution to the UAE’s Cepa agenda.
His Majesty The UAE-New Zealand Cepa brings the two nations together in a common goal of creating resilient, future-ready economies based on talent, innovation, and knowledge, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasised.
With bilateral non-oil commerce reaching $642 million in the first nine months of 2024—an growth of 8% from the same time in 2023—the UAE-New Zealand Cepa builds on the two nations’ expanding economic ties. Under the Cepa, the UAE will allow duty-free access to 98.5% of New Zealand exports, increasing to 99% after three years, while New Zealand will offer 100% duty-free access to imports from the UAE.
