The First Foldable iPhone, Priced at £1,999, is a Major Risk for Apple’s new CEO

The first significant iPhone design shift in nearly 20 years has occurred with the release of Apple’s most costly iPhone to ever, a foldable handheld that costs at least £1,999. John Ternus, who succeeded long-time CEO Tim Cook this month, is taking a risk with the iPhone Duo. Apple is somewhat late to the foldable phone market, trailing behind companies like China’s Huawei and South Korea’s Samsung.

“Others have created foldables that just feel like two phones awkwardly stuck together,” Ternus said to a crowd at Apple’s California headquarters. He asserted that Apple’s device “redefine[s] the experience of using a foldable phone.” Prices in the US range from $1,999 to $3,200. After serving for many years as a senior executive in Apple’s hardware group, Ternus was actively involved in its development, which took eight years.

It resembles a smaller iPad when unfurled and a larger iPhone when folded. “It’s completely new and yet remarkably familiar,” Ternus remarked. It is about the same size as your passport and is easy to operate with one hand. However, the product is up against well-established rivals.
