Despite continued statements by the presidents of Russia and the United States that the war may be coming to an end, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that “one of the longest, massive Russian attacks against Ukraine” has resulted in at least six fatalities and several injuries.
According to Zelenskyy, the barrage started on Wednesday morning and continued for hours, hitting a number of locations, including the Black Sea port of Odesa, the western city of Lviv near the Polish border, and Kyiv.
Zelenskyy said on Telegram that cruise and ballistic missile strikes might come after the drone attacks. “Our soldiers are defending Ukraine, but Russia’s obvious goal is to overload air defenses.”
Governor Oleksandr Prokudin of Kherson’s southern area reported that a Russian drone struck a bus in the town of Bilozerka, killing a woman. According to Governor Oleksandr Koval, another drone strike in the western part of Rivne resulted in three fatalities and four injuries.
Authorities in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine said that Russian forces used first-person view drones to strike a town close to Zolochiv, killing a 60-year-old man. Two houses and other outbuildings were damaged, according to the police.
