Following the discovery of a 17-year-old girl’s body in a bag in Thailand, an Australian man has been charged with murder. Early on Saturday morning, police in the seaside city of Pattaya said that they discovered Tunchanok Donhomla “stuffed” in the bag that had been abandoned next to a railroad track.
Simon Peter Carman was allegedly “preparing to flee the country” when he was apprehended by Thai police at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok in relation to the death. He disputes the accusations. “I feel bad for what happened to your daughter,” Carman wrote in a message sent to the victim’s family following his detention. I had no control over it. The 17-year-old was reported missing on Friday around 17:00 local time (12:00 GMT), according to Pattaya City Police.
The force claimed to have examined CCTV footage that purportedly showed Carman and Donholma entering a condominium at 03:34 on Thursday in a social media announcement. He came out by himself “carrying a large suitcase” late that night.
According to the statement, he loaded the bag onto a motorcycle and headed in the direction of a railroad track. At 01:15 on Saturday, Carman was questioned and taken into custody by police at the Bangkok airport, which is located about 150 kilometers (93 miles) north of Pattaya.
