Since the US-Israel confrontation with Iran started in February, the price of petrol and diesel has more than doubled, impacting transportation companies, farmers, and all American drivers.
US President Donald Trump has made a number of remarks and statements targeted at lowering fuel prices in the run-up to the crucial midterm elections. Trump on Friday announced an agreement with President Vladimir Putin for the rapid delivery of Russian diesel to the US and international markets, only weeks before Americans cast their ballots.
Over 300,000 tonnes were sent immediately, 500,000 tonnes in November, and an additional million tonnes “immediately thereafter,”according to him. According to him, diesel prices “will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST in the US and worldwide. Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority.”
Depending on the state of its refineries, he continued, an additional 3 million tonnes of Russian diesel would be delivered “within a short period” after. The election is taking place as the population is deeply concerned about rising prices for food, fuel, and other necessities. Republicans competing in November are being burdened by voters who have linked the issue to Trump and his party.
