When an emergency warning is issued, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence releases safety guidelines advising citizens to stay calm, follow official orders, and take cover in a secure location.
Residents have been instructed to move to the nearest secure area as soon as possible, ideally inside a building or a room away from windows, and to stay there until the threat subsides. During the warning, they shouldn’t leave their houses or buildings.
Additionally, Civil Defence advised people to avoid standing on rooftops or balconies, as well as in open spaces, near windows, and near glass. Those who are outside should seek cover behind a sturdy barrier or enter the closest building.
When an emergency warning is issued while driving, drivers should stop on the side of the road, away from high-rise structures and bridges. Hours after advising civilians to leave the attack area in the Houthi-held capital, the Saudi-led coalition said on Tuesday that it had hit two locations in different provinces and a Yemeni oil company facility in Sanaa.
The facilities, including those in the western Yemeni provinces of Saada and Dhamar, were utilised by the Houthis to “supply the war effort” in order to “threaten the kingdom, Yemen, the southern Red Sea and waterways,” according to coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki on X.
