The Sharjah Police’s ‘Reconciliation is Good’ initiative, which aims to settle financial disputes and reconcile parties, achieved notable success, reaching 385 reconciliation cases during the first half of this year (2024).
Through the initiative, more than Dhs20.160 million have been successfully returned to their rightful owners, avoiding the need to use the legal system.
Director Brigadier Yusuf Obaid Bin Hurmoul of the Comprehensive Police Stations Department emphasised the continual work of the ‘Reconciliation is Good’ initiative, which is in its fourteenth year of operation, in a statement released by the department.
He emphasised the initiative’s dedication to protecting complainants’ rights from institutional and individual abuse, maintaining good relations between parties to disputes, and assisting plaintiffs in amicably regaining their rights.
He claimed that this kept conflicts smaller and more cohesive, diverting attention from the formal legal system.
According to him, the initiative has produced observable, beneficial outcomes in the form of conflict resolution and the identification of workable solutions that support the maintenance of interpersonal and societal relationships.
