Late on Sunday, a massive fire destroyed a pub in Bangkok, leaving at least 28 dead and 25 badly injured. According to witnesses, the fire began close to the bar’s stage in the well-known Chatuchak neighborhood and quickly spread, cutting electricity and filling the space with smoke.
Online footage shows terrified patrons shouting as they ran out of Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao’s front entrance, some of them with their clothing on fire. Just after midnight, firefighters arrived on the site and swiftly put out the fire. The majority of the victims’ bodies were discovered in a restroom, where they had presumably taken refuge.The majority of the deceased were discovered in the restrooms. Lao native Kaew-udon Poungppany, 24, choked back tears as he talked of attempting to contact his younger brother, who did not make it.I was unable to proceed after grabbing a fire extinguisher and spraying it at the door. He told reporters, “I heard people screaming.”
