Home care services in Dubai expanded faster than any other element of the health industry in the first half of 2026, with the number of licensed facilities increasing by 22.7% to 249, up from 203 in the same period last year.
The significant increase, disclosed in a recent Dubai Health Authority (DHA) study, indicates a shift in how the emirate delivers care, with more patients receiving treatment at home rather than in a hospital or clinic.
The report revealed widespread growth in the sector. The number of licensed health institutions in Dubai increased by 7% to 5,931 in the first half of 2026, compared to 5,541 in the same time of 2025. Licensed health professionals numbered 70,566, up 6.5% from 66,277.
Other categories have also grown. The number of pharmacies increased 6.8% to 1,794. Complementary and alternative medicine centers increased by 8.1%, from 99 to 107. Medical complexes and optical centers increased by 9.9 percent, to 1,903 from 1,731 in the first half of 2025.
Dr. Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, commented on the report, stating that the expansion reflects the improvement of the emirate’s healthcare system and its capacity to meet community demands. The continued growth of Dubai’s health sector reflects the evolution of the emirate’s healthcare system and its ability to meet the needs of the community.
