Ferrari Reveals The First Fully Electric Automobile

Ferrari has introduced its first all-electric vehicle, the $640,000 (£474,320) Luce. The new model, the Italian brand’s first five-seater, deviates from traditional Ferrari design and was built in partnership with the LoveFrom agency, founded by former Apple design leader Sir Jony Ive.

Social media responses to the debut have ranged from “straight to the junkyard trash” to a “absolute masterclass in design”.Due to low demand and fierce competition from Chinese firms, supercar rivals such as Lamborghini and Porsche have cut back their electric vehicle plans.

Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari’s CEO, stated in Rome that the Luce, which means “light” in Italian, took a half decade to build. Ferrari intends to launch an electric vehicle (EV) after earlier ruling it out, preferring to produce hybrid vehicles that run on both gasoline and electricity. The Luce has a Ferrari-made electric motor on each wheel, allowing it to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in approximately 2.5 seconds.

The company stated that all of the components are manufactured in-house, allowing the automobile to be fixed by the company for many years to come, preserving the Luce’s market value.
