Following a Salmonella Outbreak, Taylor Farms Recalled Jalapeño Products

Following a salmonella infection, food manufacturer Taylor Farms is recalling a large portion of its fresh goods that contain jalapeño peppers. The agricultural behemoth announced that it will recall about 20 items, including sandwiches and dips, from stores like Walmart, Target, and Whole Foods. The company claimed to have produced 40% of all salad kits sold in the US last year.

The business announced that it was discontinuing the items in 26 US states but claimed it was unaware of any diseases associated with them. This comes after thousands of people were impacted by an outbreak of cyclospora, a parasite that causes severe diarrhea, which was recently connected to some lettuce from Taylor Farms. The company’s pepper supplier, Coast Citrus Distributors, withdrew its own fresh jalapeno due to salmonella concerns, which prompted the jalapeño recall.

Taylor Farms stated that it “is no longer sourcing products from this farmer and will be filling orders from alternative suppliers” after identifying a producer in Sinaloa, Mexico, as the cause of the outbreak. Customers should throw away any recalled goods right away and refrain from using them. It further stated, “Refunds are available at the location of purchase.
