In an apparent escalation of the Middle East conflict, Saudi Arabia and the United States have launched strikes against militias in Iraq that are supported by Iran. Iran-aligned terrorists that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) directed to attack US forces and Saudi energy infrastructure” were the target of the attacks, according to US Central Command (Centcom).
Iran-backed Shia militias control the majority of Iraq’s paramilitary Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), which reported that at least 20 of its members had been killed in US-Saudi bombings on its facilities.
It occurred just hours after Centcom declared that Iran had launched missiles in a “attempted surprise attack” against US forces in the Middle East, ending a pause in hostilities. According to the US, all of the Iranian missiles were “successfully intercepted” during the attack on Tuesday at 17:45 EDT (21:45 GMT).
Targeting a US air base and a command center in Jordan “in response to the acts of aggression of the American child-killing army” was the IRGC’s claim. Additionally, it stated that three oil tankers had been hit by naval forces in the Strait of Hormuz after they “ignored warnings” and traveled through the crucial Gulf canal via what it called a “unsafe and illegal route.
