K-Pop Band NewJeans Loses their Court Case Against the Agency

A court struggle to leave its record label Ador was lost by the K-pop group NewJeans. The act’s contract with the label, which is valid until 2029, was upheld by a South Korean court on Tuesday.

Last year, the five members of the group Hanni, Hyein, Haerin, Danielle, and Minji announced their unilateral departure from the agency, claiming maltreatment and manipulation. According to local media reports, the group has stated it will appeal the decision.

According to the sources, NewJeans stated that it is “impossible to return to Ador” and carry on with their regular activities.

NewJeans claimed that the firing of former Ador CEO and mentor Min Hee-jin was a breach of contract, but the Seoul Central Disctrict Court dismissed this claim. Her termination, according to NewJeans, betrayed their confidence in the organization.

Ador expressed its earnest hope that the decision “will serve as an opportunity for the artists to calmly reflect on this matter” in a statement issued following the decision. The label also stated that it is prepared for the members’ forthcoming endeavors, such as the album’s release.
