Local authorities said on Saturday that a massive fire that was started by strong explosions at an industrial park close to Argentina’s capital has been put out. The majority of the more than 20 individuals who had minor injuries during the incident have been released from the hospital, according to officials. Around 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) from Buenos Aires, near the busiest international airport in the nation, a thick column of black and orange smoke billowed across the sky above the Ezeiza town late on Friday.
Locals became terrified as a result of the fire and blasts. Some residences had their windows broken by the accident, and other buildings sustained minor damage. Although the fire hasn’t been put out yet, “it is contained, which means it will not spread beyond the limits where it is currently burning,” Fabian Garcia, the province of Buenos Aires’ civil defense director, told local media.
The event “had violent characteristics, but the situation was never out of control to the point of posing a risk to the population,” Garcia stated. The impacted area’s air quality was being observed. The presence of smoke particles was concerning, “but it is not an extremely dangerous situation,” Garcia continued. AFP reporters close to the scene saw thick columns of black smoke rising hundreds of meters into the night sky, lit orange by the enormous fire.
