Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the US wants to conclude the war with Russia by June, and both sides have been invited to the US for negotiations next week. America proposed for the first time that the two negotiation teams – Ukraine and Russia – meet in the United States of America, most likely in Miami, within a week. “We confirmed our participation,” he stated.
There was no immediate response from Washington or Moscow, but US President Donald Trump has been pushing for an end to the conflict since resuming office more than a year ago. Meanwhile, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure, resulting in more widespread blackouts amid frigid temperatures.
In comments released on Saturday, Zelensky described what happened during the second round of US-brokered peace talks in Abu Dhabi, which concluded on Friday with no reports of a breakthrough. Zelensky stated that “difficult issues remained difficult,” especially the territorial concessions that Ukraine is under pressure to undertake.
