US Pays $3m to Victims of Mysterious ‘Havana Syndrome’ Revealed by Spies

The US government has compensated victims of the enigmatic neurological disorder known as “Havana Syndrome,” which has been reported by spies, diplomats, and their families, for almost $3 million (£2.2 million).

In connection with the disease, which CIA operatives stationed in the Cuban capital initially reported ten years ago, the reimbursements are the first to be provided to US agency employees.

Since then, “anomalous health incidents” have been recorded by American employees stationed abroad, especially in China. A low hum, clicks, squeals, and “grinding metal” have all been reported by sufferers, while others have experienced severe pressure on the skull, lightheadedness, and nausea.

The US Department of Defense announced the compensation, which was paid out in accordance with the Havana Act, which was passed into law in 2021, and stated that it will continue to give “the care of affected personnel” top priority. For many years, there has been a lot of conjecture about what causes Havana Syndrome and who is to blame.

Some have suggested that microwaves are the cause of the illness, which has led to additional conjecture that a foreign force may have attacked US employees and their dependents abroad using a sonar weapon.
