Since peace negotiations broke down, Iran has accused the US of attacking civilian facilities in the most recent round of airstrikes. According to provincial authorities and state media, bridges, an airport, and a rail station were damaged. An attack on a bridge in the province of Hormozgan has been confirmed by BBC Verify. The US Central Command (Centcom) stated that the attacks were meant to “further degrade Iranian military capabilities” but did not provide a list of targets.
Iran retaliated against US and Israeli targets and allies in the Gulf after President Donald Trump vowed to strike Iranian bridges and power plants in order to compel Tehran to resume negotiations to end the conflict that started on February 28 with US and Israeli attacks. The United States has been conducting airstrikes against Iranian sites for the past six nights.
Six bridges in the Hormozgan province, a railway station, and Iranshahr Airport in southeast Iran were all hit on Thursday night, according to Iranian state media and local authorities. According to Hormozgan province authorities, seven persons were slain. Following nighttime footage of a ball of fire on top of the Gariveh Bridge, BBC Verify and BBC Persian have confirmed the footage.
