At least 66 people were killed Tuesday in a fire at a 12-story hotel in a well-known ski resort in northwest Turkey, according to the country’s interior minister. At least 51 other people were hurt in the accident that happened at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya resort, which is located around 300 kilometres east of Istanbul in the Koroglu mountains of Bolu province, according to Ali Yerlikaya.
Hotels in the area are crowded during the school semester break, which is when the incident happened. We are in excruciating discomfort. After examining the scene, Yerlikaya informed reporters, “Unfortunately, the fire that started at this hotel has claimed 66 lives.
At least one of the injured was in critical condition, according to Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu, and 17 others had been released following treatment. According to accounts, the fire started in the hotel’s restaurant area at about 3:30 a.m. local time.
Unfortunately, we received unfortunate news this morning from Bolu, Kartalkaya,” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated at a speech in Ankara. A hotel fire claimed the lives of our brothers and sisters and injured others. Every action required to clarify every facet of the incident and hold those accountable will be taken,” he continued.
