A 14-year-old boy opened fire at his house and school on the suburbs of Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, leaving at least seven dead and twenty-three injured. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul told reporters that the gunman, a pupil at the Debsirin School in Nonthaburi, killed his grandparents and five teachers before ending his own life. According to Anutin, the assailant had “more than 30 bullets left” when he turned the gun on himself.
According to police, nine of the injured individuals are still in severe condition. The second school shooting in Thailand this year has increased pressure on the government to take stronger gun control measures. The active gunfire started just after 10:00 local time (03:00 GMT), and police were called to the location.
Reporters were informed by National Police Chief Gen. Kittiratt Phanphet that forensic investigators had discovered that the gunman’s rounds were quite precise, with multiple of them striking critical areas of the body. According to the prime minister, the attack had “clear steps and clear goals” and was “well prepared”. The BBC was informed by a female seventh-grader who was still wearing her school uniform that she was in front of her instructor when the woman was shot.
